Local TV Station WMUR:
Drivers will test the limits of their cheap, junky cars in an unusual endurance race in which costumes, themed cars and bribes are a normal part of the event…
We had an oil leak. The old turbo drain tube was destroyed by not-to-be-named team members. The solution was to use one from the spare 760 turbo. It mostly fit. Or so we thought. Turns out that the twisting and persuading req’d to make it fit ended up destroying the o-ring. So oil was blowing out the gap. Note that the top part where it attaches to the turbo was really hard to install. We tried to rtv it, but eventually got black flagged for the smoke trail of oil on exhaust pipe action.
Solution: use tiny tubing cutter (Keith has every tool) to cut the tube in half. Remove tube, clean up gobs of rtv. We drove into town and got several o-rings from autozone and ace hardware. We also got beer. An shoes for Scott. Re-installed tube, now re-connected with strain-relieving hose. Hopefully problem solved.
Things yet to do: replace front rotors so car doesn’t shake apart. Install transponder. Put on fancy new (to us) 16″ rims w/ new tires. Fix rearview mirror.
