Bonfire night: Bushings and shocks
This week, we all met to do some real work on the car. Fresh off the UPS truck were brand new Bilstein front struts and front suspension bushings. On the way into the garage, Chuck made sure to show us the real power of a 1988 Volvo TI and attempted a 0-60 between Keith’s garage and the main road. As soon as we got started, it was a real PIA to get all the bushings out, but Keith seems to suffer from a light case of pyromania and had a plan. Burn it. Burn burn burn. And he was right. After burning every piece of rubber in the front suspension, we were finally able to force the old bushings out and install new ones. We also got the driver side strut replaced, and plan on doing the other one tonight. Chuck showed off his electric engineering skills and added a manual switch to the previously not working overdrive. This means that we have added overdrive to every gear, making it probably the first 8 gear Volvo to race in the 24 Hours of Lemons. Lots of pictures below (thanks Craig the photographer for hanging out and documenting).
