The patient’s sweat glands are working again!

Dr. Keith and Dr. Brice were the only two surgeons on duty last night.  Dr. Chuck was called off to California by his other job (the one that pays), Dr. Martin (sounds like a shoe brand) was working, and Dr. Scott was in Jamaica…ya, mon.

Anyway, for weeks now, the patient has been unable to run for more than a couple minutes without overheating since it’s sweat glands were removed.  The patient was also a bit dehydrated.

Finally, the intense, multi-day operation of water pump replacement and leaky heater valve bypass has been completed, and with great success.  The patient was given a nice big drink of distilled water, and it gurgled and burped with enthusiasm, as it rehydrated it’s system.  There seem to be no leaks, but we cannot yet exercise the patient because it’s food supply is still temporarily cut off since the removal of it’s cancerous esophagus last Thursday night (fuel line).

Dr. Brice also relocated the patients vacuum ballast from the front bumper to the interior of the car.  Dr. Brice had to make an air tube extension patch, using old VW fuel line, to reach the ballast to the passenger side of the car.  The ballast is sort of like an appendix.  It doesn’t seem to do much, but if it were to burst through impact during the race, we would be hurting.  The final interior location of the vacuum ballast will be determined by Dr. Chuck upon his return to the operating room.

We also confirmed that it’s calipers are Bendix in the front, and ATE in the rear.  This is important to know for new brake pad selection, since this model year came with two different calipers up front (Bendix vs. Girling), and two different calipers in the rear (ATE vs. Girling).  I am actually not as pleased about having Bendix because EBC doesn’t make their Red Stuff or Yellow Stuff brake pads for anything but the Girling.  We’re stuck with Green Stuff, or maybe some other pads.
